Google Gives In

Google, in response to a UK lawsuit, has determined to sell the keyword "abortion" to pro-life groups as well as pro-choice ones.  This is a major victory. There is, especially overseas, always an uphill battle to get the pro-life message out there and the internet is a powerful and cost-effective tool.

Just as an aside:  You might have noticed that the article said Google did not allow advertisements promoting violence but they do allow abortion providers to advertise.  What do they think goes on during the proceedure, I wonder?

Obama and abortion

The Contrarians' Review--September 2008

There is a new issue.

Americans Love Abortion

In the latest Gallup Poll on the issue Americans are against overturning Roe V Wade 52% to 33%.  That's a lead of almost 20 points for keeping the ruling intact.  Now, keep in mind that overturning Roe is actually not the panacea GOP hacks would have you believe.  It is actually only the first step in a long a arduous legal and political process that might involve fighting a battle in all 50 states.

So, what does this all mean?  Well for one thing, it means that many of the supposedly pro-life 43% of people are liars or idiots.  They claim to be pro-life but are unwilling to dismantle a legal decision so poor that even some pro-choice scholars think it was wrongly decided.

And why? because our country loves abortion, or at least the false freedom it provides.

Now some people will point to the across the board strong opposition to the practice of partial birth abortion and say that this indicates a change of heart; a reason to hope.  Well don't get too hopeful, this is just another example of Americans deciding their standards of right and wrong based on the "yuck" factor rather than sound moral reasoning.  Don't get me wrong, I'll be delighted when this procedure  (partial birth abortions) is completely illegal but when it is it will be because the public finds the operation to be distasteful rather than because of any true respect for the sanctity of human life.

As long as we are a selfish culture. abortion will be impossible to solve through democratic means.  I don't see that changing any time soon, unfortunately.

Just a Reminder

For those of you who are so excited about Mrs. Palin.  Please keep in mind that although she opposes abortion, she still supports contraception.  So she really just does not understand the issue.

McCain: Waterboarding is Torture.

I'm glad to see that the Senator has found his voice on this issue again.  No one in American politics has more potential as an anti-torture activist than does John McCain.  When it comes to the horrors of torture he, unlike most in government, know exactly what he's talking about.

Here's the story.

Who's a Human?

A good question to ask the death worshipers.

Diogenes has another.

Feminists Support Abortion Here in America...

I wonder how they feel about it in India.

The Battle for a Country's Soul

An interesting article on the New York Review of Books website.

The Democrats are Becoming a Pro-life Party?

Probably not.  Diogenes has it and he is  on fire.
